Community Relations
Queensland Nickel is committed to effectively engaging and building strong relationships with our community and key stakeholders. Our community relations strategy is a vital contributor to the long term operational and financial success of our Refinery.
We support and sponsor a number of comunity based, not-for-profit educational, health, arts and junior sport organisations in the Townsville area.
QN also coordinates and hosts a quarterly Community Liason Committee, which involves representatives from academic, business, youth, charity, government and community groups.
Townsville City Council Schools Breakfast Program – Queensland Nickel co-funds the School Breakfast Program which provides and promotes healthy food choices for school children and teach them valuable life skills. The School Breakfast Program is currently operating in a number of Townsville schools.

North Queensland Science Education Centre – The North Queensland Science Education Centre has been sponsored by the Refinery since 1997. North Queensland Ensembles (The Barrier Reef Orchestra) – Queensland Nickel is proud to be the major sponsor of North Queensland Ensembles and the Barrier Reef Orchestra for the 2010 and 2011 seasons. With its global headquarters being established on the Gold Coast, the sponsorship is part of QN's long-term business interests in Australia, Asia and the Pacific.
