The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has written to Mr Clive Palmer and apologised for incorrect comments it published in a media release issued on 9 January 2013 and in an interview on ABC radio on 10 January 2013.
The WWF had claimed that tailings ponds at the Palmer Nickel and Cobalt Refinery north of Townsville were being mismanaged.
The apology withdraws this claim and also acknowledges the ongoing work being undertaken at the Palmer Nickel and Cobalt Refinery to safely manage the operation of the tailing ponds.
WWF also agreed to pay Mr Palmer’s legal costs.
